Risks to children

Sasha (9) often chats alone in his room, without his parents being concerned about it. But when his father looks in and asks who he is chatting with, he sees that Sasha is being questioned about his body, allegedly by someone his age. He is horrified and calls his wife, so that she too can see how easily paedophiles can groom children. They decide to keep an eye on Sasha in future when he is on the computer.

TIP: Protect children

If you want to register in a chatroom, use a made up name as a nickname, one which gives no indication of who you are. If in doubt, ask your parents or someone you trust. Never reveal your real name, address, school address, telephone number or mobile number in chatrooms or emails. If you have been pestered, talk to your parents or someone else you trust. They can assess the risks and help you.
