A nice surprise

Lydia (35) invites her friend for a spin in her new Porsche. The friend is amazed that Lydia can afford such a car. Lydia tells her how she has managed it: she has set up a free chat forum on health on the internet. As the operator of the web forum she has access to all the surfers' data such as user names and passwords. She has exploited this to purchase the Porsche on eBay.ch using a web forum user's username and password on the Pay-it online payment service. All she had to do was collect the car herself from the seller. The web forum user is somewhat surprised when he finds the purchase of an expensive Porsche listed on his Pay-it account.

TIP: Use different passwords

For most online purchases you have to register with a username and a password. Make sure you use different passwords for different online services. It is just as important to keep you passwords, usernames and access codes safe. Changing your passwords regularly further increases your security. If someone makes unauthorised payments using your account, contact the payment service provider immediately in writing with all the documentation.
